Are your cookies prices negotiable?
Because my cookies are handcrafted and customized for you, my cookies are priced based on the quality of ingredients I use, cookie size, and the level of effort required to create each one. I’m certainly happy to discuss prices, but ask you to appreciate the amount of planning required to create unique designs and the time and attention necessary to make each order special.
Do you ship orders?
Not at this time. Virginia law prohibits me from shipping cookies, so I am limited to local orders, as time permits. Sugar Cookie Girl operates under the Virginia Cottage Food Law.
Do you accept custom orders?
Absolutely! All orders are customized at your request. The pricing chart is a guide to provide a short description of how my cookies are priced. Every order varies based on quantity and the level of effort, but the chart offers you a place to start.
How much notice is needed for an order?
I bake and decorate cookies in my spare time and for that reason having as much notice as possible allows me to plan and complete multiple orders, when time permits. I recommend submitting your order form as soon possible in order to start the collaboration process. Because I’m the sole baker and decorator, I cannot accept every order, but if given enough notice I will make every attempt. My ability to accept orders is dependent on how many other orders I’m working on at a given time. A minimum of 2 weeks is required when I’m not already committed to another order, but a month’s notice is preferred. My calendar fills up quickly, especially during the holidays, so putting your order in early is best.
How do you make your icing so shiny?
I use the Excalibur 3900B Series to dry the icing’s top layer at 105 degrees for about 5 – 10 minutes.
What cookie flavors do you offer?
I use pure vanilla and pure almond extracts in my basic sugar cookie recipe. I also use pure lemon extract in combination with vanilla or vanilla/almond, upon request.
Can I request another flavor besides vanilla and almond?
Certainly, though I would be sure those who’ll be eating them will enjoy the flavor(s) you’ve requested.
